Information Services Manager

Overview:

We are looking for a skilled, professional Information Services Manager to join our team who will be hands-on as well as strategic in the design, administration and maintenance of the company's Information Systems.  The successful individual will bring a deep sense of personal responsibility and accountability, along with drive, intelligence and passion for technology and technical team management.

 

He or she approaches work with a flexible attitude that appreciates necessary changes in the business environment and the technology universe. The successful individual has proven his or her ability to work through conflict, build trust, and influence outcomes through outstanding interpersonal skills with all kinds of people at all levels. Must have experience in managing and hiring technology staff to build a department.

 

           Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver against a clear technology strategy to reach business goals.
  • Consider and manage the full IT solution across technologies, organizations, and roles.
  • Manage production, pre-production servers and infrastructure.
  • Monitor best practices, trends and new technologies and evaluate for possible adoption.
  • Evaluate new hardware and software solutions and provide objective recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain tools to automate server setup and other tasks necessary for effective system administration.
  • Establish and document best practices for server and application management.
  • Monitor capacity and performance of services and recommend solutions.
  • Work with the development team to ensure applications meet operational requirements.
  • Spearhead efforts to assess Network Security and provide recommendations to ensure safety of data and systems.
  • Document and keep up-to-date disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
  • Oversee proper storage of company data, archiving of records, backups, account permissions, folder security

    Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively communicate with Management all issues and/or ongoing developments that may impact service quality to users, operational effectiveness or efficiency.
  • Lead departmental goal setting, budgeting, action plans and timeline development to address short- and long-term business needs.
  • Perform special IT-related projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

  • 4+ years of Information Systems Administration experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining technical and organizational best practices.
  • Strong organization/time management skills, demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with potential conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a small work group with a high volume of work.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability drive projects through to completion.
  • Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills including experience with related tools.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, respond proactively to resolve problems and maintain patience while working on escalated support issues.
  • Positive attitude with customer-centric focus.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

 

   

           Technical Qualifications:

 

  • Considerable knowledge of a variety of networking concepts, practices and procedures, with ability to keep abreast of the latest trends and practices in the Network Administrator Disciplines. Overall understanding TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience managing and configuring network devices (switches, firewalls, and routers) SonicWall and VMWare experience desired.
  • Experience with Active Directory and system administration tools; with Virtualization software VMWare.
  • (ESX and ESXi) or Hyper-V; with email messaging systems (including: Exchange, SMTP); with system level backup and restore.
  • Solid understanding of the following Microsoft Server applications:
    • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003-2010
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2000
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2008-R2
  • Capable of supporting Windows desktop operating systems (XP, Vista, 7).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications (2003-2010).
